Connect your committee topic to sustainable development.

Local questions. Global perspectives.

A shared frame for global challenges

The United Nations’ 17 Sustainable Development Goals bring social, economic and environmental priorities into a shared framework. They help students explore connections between issues that may first appear separate.

Connect the issue, not just the label

Start with your committee’s question. Which goal or target helps you understand it? For example, a discussion about access to learning can connect to Goal 4, while participation and inclusive institutions connect to Goal 16.

Explore the relationships

Ask how a proposal might affect other priorities. A response to one issue may have consequences for education, health, equality or the environment. Thoughtful dialogue considers those relationships.

Bring it into your community

Choose a question you can investigate locally. Use the goals as a starting point for learning, then plan an appropriate practical step with classmates and a teacher.

There is a place for you at the table.

A student. A teacher. A school. A world of possibilities.
