A conversation with a purpose
Model United Nations is an educational simulation in which participants represent countries or other assigned perspectives and work together on global issues. A committee gives that conversation a shared topic, a process and a place to develop proposals.
What does a delegate do?
Research the issue and the perspective you represent. Explain your position, listen to other delegates and look for responses your committee can develop together. Your task is to represent an informed position, rather than simply argue your personal opinion.
What can you learn?
Research, communication and negotiation develop through practice. So do careful listening, collaboration and the ability to consider an issue from more than one perspective.
A useful first step
Choose one global question that interests you. Write what you already know, what you need to investigate and whose perspective you have not yet considered. Then explore the preparation guide.
