Listening is a form of participation

Your contribution can begin before you take the floor.

A voice makes room for another voice

A conversation changes when someone notices a perspective that has not yet been heard. In a committee room, participation includes listening carefully enough to understand what another person is trying to say.

Ask a question that opens the conversation

Try asking what concern sits behind a proposal, what evidence would help the group decide or which experience has been overlooked. Questions can create space for a more thoughtful shared response.

Notice what changes

After the conversation, reflect on one idea you understood differently because you listened. That moment is part of the learning journey, even if you did not give the longest speech.

There is a place for you at the table.

A student. A teacher. A school. A world of possibilities.
